Project Introduction

The goal of the course was to introduce basic scripting in a geometrical modeling environment with a focus on form-making algorithms, and to reinforce and extend basic concepts of parametric modeling.

Our speculative master planning project leverages advanced computational tools to create efficient, adaptable neighborhood-scale developments. By inputting geometric plot configurations and specifying parameters such as setbacks, plot occupancy percentage, and Floor Area Ratio (FAR), the system generates a foundational master plan accompanied by simplified 3massing models. These models provide a tangible representation of building forms, volumes, and spatial relationships within the urban context. The project's computational tools likely incorporate elements of parametric design and generative algorithms tinterpret input parameters and generate coherent urban layouts. This approach aligns with emerging trends in computational design and speculative planning, where advanced algorithms are employed to explore and optimize urban configurations. By bridging the gap between traditional urban planning and cutting-edge computational techniques, this speculative master planning project offers a powerful tool for creating more sustainable, efficient, and livable urban environments. It empowers planners, architects, and developers to rapidly explore and evaluate diverse urban scenarios, ultimately leading to better-informed decisions and more resilient neighborhood-scale developments.
